Day 1: Arrival Nairobi Upon arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by Affable Tours & Safaris Representative. Transferred to your beautiful hotel a short distance from the airport on the outskirts of Nairobi. Overnight at the Ole Sereni Hotel (BB). Day 2: Nairobi - Lake Bogoria After Breakfast at Ole Sereni Hotel we depart for Lake Bogoria with our packed lunch. The south shore of Lake Bogoria has acacia-ficus woodland and to the north is a papyrus swamp. Birds unique to this area include the Lesser and Greater flamingo, Steppe eagle, Curlew Sand piper, Black necked grebe and Black headed Plover. After picnic lunch we proceed to Lake Baringo which is also a birdwatcher’s paradise. Dinner and Overnight at Lake Baringo Country Club (FB) Day 2: Lake Baringo Full day at Baringo, well known by many avid Ornithologists as the mecca for Birds, with 500 species of birds having been recorded. Explore this area with field Birding around Lake Baringo, There are possibilities to see rare species like, Cape Eagle Owl, White-faced Scops Owl, Jackson's Hornbill, Hemprich's Hornbill, Brown-Tailed Rock Chat, Nothern Red Bishop, Northern Masked Weaver and White Billed Buffalo Weaver, Olivaceous Warbler, Northern brownbul, Jackson's golden backed weaver, Little weaver, Brown Tailed Rock Chat, Goliath heron, Northern Shoveller, Verreauxs eagle owl, Bristle crowned starling, Senegal Thicknee, Pygmy falcon, Blue cheecked bee-eater. Dinner and Overnight atLake Baringo Country Club (FB) Day 3: Lake Baringo - Kakamega forest Today we leave lake Baringo and head to an isolated remnant of the equatorial rain forest that once spread over Africa from west to east. It contains an excellent representation of bird, animal, and plant species including an array of primate. Kakamega forest's aviauna is rich and unusual in its composition. Two globally threatened species reside here, Chapins Flycatcher and Turners Eremomela. The aviauna is unique not only nationally but also continentally; the forest holds large populations of Black and white colobus and Red tailed monkeys among others. Dinner and Overnight at Rondo Retreat Center (FB) Day 4: Kakamega forest Kakamega forest is the only remnant in Kenya of the unique Guineo-Congolian forest ecosystem, the park offers unique wildlife and scenic beauty. For bird and butterfly watchers, this is the place to visit. The forest is home to over 400 species of butterflies, about 300 bird species and 27 species of snakes. Full day bird walk at the eastern most extension of the great tropical rain forest stretching from West Africa. This forest is renowned for its uniqueness and richness in bird life and species like, Turners Eremomela, Black billed Turaco, Great blue Turaco, Cameroon Sombre Green bull, Little grey Green bull, Yellow Bellied Wattle eye, Purple-throated cuckoo, Hairy Breasted Barbet, Grey breasted Illadopsis, African Grey Parrot, Square tailed drongo and Chapins Flycatcher. Dinner and Overnight at Rondo Retreat Center (FB). Day 5: Kakamega forest - Lake Victoria Today after breakfast we depart southwards to the shore's Lake Victoria, our bird walk will be focusing on the Dunga beach Swamp. this site is home to one of the most reliable sites in Kenya for the scarce and threatened papyrus yellow warbler. Papyrus Gonolek, Swamp fly catcher, Marsh Tachgra, Jacksons golden backed weaver, Red chested sunbird, Sedge warbler, Carruthers's Cisticola, Southern red bishop, Northern brown throated weaver, Greater swamp warbler. All meals at Imperial Hotel Kisumu (FB). Day 6: Lake Victoria - Lake Nakuru After breakfast depart for Lake Nakuru National Park also known as the greatest ornithological spectacle in the world because of its myriads of fuschia pink flamingoes whose numbers are legion, often more than a million maybe two. They feed on the abundant algae, which thrives in the warm waters. Scientists reckon that the flamingo population at Nakuru consumes about 250,000 kilos of algae per hectare of surface area per year. There are two types of flamingo species: the lesser flamingo can be distinguished by its deep red carmine bill and pink plumage unlike the greater, which has a bill with a black tip. The Lesser flamingos are ones that are commonly pictured in documentaries mainly because they are large in number. After lunch we will have an Afternoon game/bird viewing. Dinner and overnight at Lion Hill Lodge (FB). Day 7: Lake Nakuru - Lake Naivasha After breakfast we depart for Lake Naivasha arriving by mid-morning in time for a bird walk followed by lunch at Lake Naivasha Country club. Being a freshwater lake, Naivasha has a healthy fish population which attracts a variety of fish-eaters. Both Long-tailed and Great Cormorants can be seen, along with Fish Eagles and Pied Kingfishers. Naivasha is also a good place to see the Grey-backed fiscal. This bird replaces the Long-tailed Fiscal in areas with higher rainfall. Also to be seen in the area is the Black-lored Babbler among many other bird species. Dinner and overnight at Lake Naivasha Country Club (FB). Day 8: Lake Naivasha - Hell's Gate National Park After breakfast, a morning bird walk with the aim of viewing birds on the shores of the Lake with a few hours of relaxation before lunch. Afternoon visit to Hell's Gate National Park, which is a breeding ground for vultures in Kenya e.g. Lammergeyer vultures we also anticipate for species like Imperial eagle, Schalow's wheatear, Chin spot batis. Dinner and overnight at Lake Naivasha Country Club (FB). Day 9: Lake Naivasha – Nairobi – Depart After breakfast at your Lodge you will check out and drive back to Nairobi arriving for lunch at The Carnivore Restaurant. After lunch and depending on your departure flight timings you will be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta airport for your onward flight.
