New Year Special Safari Trip Narration: The Safari begins with a journey into the vast wilderness of Samburu, home to some of the most unique wildlife in Kenya, great game viewing and photographic experiences. The next stop is Lake Nakuru where thousands of pink flamingos tint the horizon and the surrounding game reserve is a haven for the endangered black rhino. Finally, the safari moves on to the magnificent Masai Mara, famed for its vast numbers of plains game and the spectacular big cats. New Year Safari Highlights
Upon arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by Affable Tours & Safaris Representative and transferred to your beautiful hotel a short distance from the airport on the outskirts of Nairobi. The remainder of the day is at leisure or there is a variety of optional excursions available for you to explore Kenya’s capital city. Overnight at the Southern Sun Mayfair (BB) Day 2: Samburu After breakfast drive 360 km north through rich farming areas and across the Equator to the semi-arid and rugged landscape of the Samburu. After lunch proceed on a late afternoon game drive then return to the Ashnil Samburu Camp where you can take time to cool off with a swim in the pool, enjoy a massage or simply relax on the deck overlooking the Ewaso Nyiro River. (All Meals) Overnight at the Ashnil Samburu Camp Day 3: Samburu Early morning and late afternoon game drives enable you to see wildlife unique to this arid yet beautiful part of Kenya. (All Meals) Overnight at the Ashnil Samburu Camp Day 4: Lake Nakuru After an early breakfast, drive into the Great Rift Valley to the Lake Nakuru National Park arriving in time for lunch (375 kms). Enjoy an afternoon game drive in the park which plays host to large flocks of flamingos as well as other big game species along the lake's shore. (All Meals) Overnight at Flamingo Hill Tented Camp Day 5: Masai Mara After an early breakfast drive 315 km to the Masai Mara Game Reserve, one of the world's most famous game reserves. After lunch at the Mara Sopa Lodge, enjoy a late afternoon game drive through this spectacular wilderness area. (All Meals) Overnight at the Mara Sopa Lodge Day 6: Masai Mara Enjoy an optional early morning balloon safari* over the Mara followed by a bubbly bush breakfast (optional extra) or take an early morning game drive followed by breakfast at the lodge. Spend the rest of the morning at leisure then take a game drive through the reserve after lunch. (All Meals) Overnight at the Mara Sopa Lodge *Masai Mara Balloon Safari is an additional optional excursion emails us for price details. Day 7: Masai Mara Take an early morning game drive followed by breakfast at the lodge. The rest of the morning is at leisure for you to enjoy the lodge facilities. You can enjoy a drink at the bar, take a dip in the pool or just take in the views of the Talek River. In the late afternoon you will take the final game drive of the safari. (All Meals) Overnight at the Sopa Lodge *Optional cultural visit to Maasai Manyattas at an extra cost of 30 US$ per person. Day 8: Holiday Extension or Departure Depart for an early morning game drive, returning to your lodge for late breakfast. After breakfast at your Lodge you will check out and drive back to Nairobi (300 km) arriving for lunch at The Carnivore Restaurant. After lunch, and depending on your departure flight timings your will be transferred Jomo Kenyatta airport for your onward flight.
